Deutsche Post was the first company on the German market to introduce the “Packstation” service back in 2003. With 5,000 machines in operation, it now runs a unique nationwide parcel locker network with a total of around 500,000 compartments.
Thomas Geisel, mayor of Düsseldorf said: “Especially in times of the Corona virus pandemic, the Packstation is a very useful device. It replaces the direct contact between parcel deliverer and recipient, thus eliminating possible source of infection. And it is also a great alternative to home delivery, especially for working people.”
